OS X Mountain Lion hits 3 million downloads in four days

In just a matter of four days, Apple reported topping three million download of its latest OS for the Mac, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. Not bad for an OS that has been noted to not that different from its predecessor, OS X 10.7 Lion. Apple says OS X Mountain Lion is “the most successful OS X release in Apple’s history.”

OS X Mountain Lion has hit 3 million downloads in just four days since its release.

OS X Mountain Lion, released on July 25, boasts more than 200 new features, including tighter integration with iCloud, Apple’s cloud-based services for the Mac, iPhone, and iPad. Also among the new features for the Mac are the new Messages app, Reminders app, system-wide sharing, dictation, Game Center, Airplay mirroring, a dedicated notes app, and an updated Safari.

Some apps have been renamed to better mimic their iOS counterparts: iCal is now called Calendar and Address Book is now called Contacts.

Some users are reporting battery life issues on Macbooks. In general though, response has been positive.
