Why Ehon is a great free epub book reader for OS X

I think I have a new favorite ebook reader for OS X. That, my friends, is Ehon. It’s meant to be a digital comic book reader and it’s a good one, too, able to open comics in CBR and CBZ formats.

Comical, a great free CBR and CBZ comics reader for OS X, but not for Mountain Lion

Laptop and desktop computers are a great way to read comics. One of my favorite comic book readers for the Mac is Comical. Comical is free and it can read CBR and CBZ files and is available for OS X, Windows, and Linux. But there’s a catch.

Comical for OS X 10.2 to 10.6. Image from Comical website.

Comical runs on older Macs running OS X 10.3 Panther (see screenshot above, from the developer’s website) and OS X 10.2 Jaguar.

I’ve used it on OS X 10.4 Tiger and OS X 10.5 Leopard. It should also run on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

Unfortunately for Comical fans using newer Macs, the app does not run on OS X 10.7 Lion 10.7 or OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion. It’s a pity because Comical is a mighty good comic book reader.
