Latest OS for the Mac, OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, is now available for on the Mac App Store. You can get it for USD 19.99. If you had bought your Mac on June 11, 2012, or later, then you most probably qualify for a free upgrade to Mountain Lion.

OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion was released today, July 25.

OS X 10.8 adds several enhancements to the OS, including greater integration with iPads, iPhones, and other iOS devices.

OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion is about 4 GB. It can be installed on computers running OS X 10.6.8 or later, so that’s good news for those running OS X Snow Leopard or Lion.

Reading becomes easy using scrolling on your mouse or trackpad. You can set font sizes easily and add bookmarks.

Once you have it installed and setup, you can use it to open and read digital books in epub format, even many epubs that are digitally protected by DRM.

Get Ready for a 15-inch Macbook Air with Ivy Bridge

It’s not just updates for the iPhone and the iPad that are getting attention lately. Technology sites have been abuzz with the possible launch of a Macbook Air with a whopping 15-inch screen. New processors with Ivy Bridge processors are also to make an appearance on the next-generation Macbook Air.

Right now, Macbook Air line includes an 11-inch and a 13-inch models; 15-inch screens are only available on Macbook Pros.

As for CPUs, the current Macbook Air’s Sandy Bridge processor from Intel provides great performance while being a great energy saver. But Intel’s Ivy Bridge processor promises to be both faster and smaller than Sandy Bridge. Intel is also touting Ivy Bridge’s graphics and multimedia performance.

Free Epub Book Readers for Mac OS X

It’s convenient to have books to read on the iPod Touch. The iPod Touch is portable and capable of storing thousands of ebooks. Ebook reader apps tend to offer options to adjust the screen brightness, font faces and font sizes, and text and background colors. A good ebook reader app could let you bookmark pages, take notes, and look up definition of words without leaving the app.

I switched to the iBooks app on my iPod Touch after the Stanza app became unusable after I updated to iOS version 5 on the iPod Touch.

Since Stanza’s death on iOS, I’ve been using Apple’s iBooks app. I disliked iBooks app at first because, compared to Stanza on iOS, iBooks felt sluggish. But the app has since grown on me.
